I love using coconut oil as a carrier for many of my DIY beauty treatments and skin care creations. One of my favorite recipes is a mix of argon and coconut oils with glycerin which I use when my face gets dry in winter. Just a dab of the oil really moisturizes well for me. GOPURE Naturals recently sent me a bottle of their fractionated coconut oil to try and review; just when I had wanted to make a hand scrub for summer. (Winter was very unkind to my hands.) I have the recipe for the hand scrub below!
What is Fractionated Coconut Oil?
As the name implies, fractionated coconut oil is a fraction of the coconut oil from which almost all the long chain triglycerides are removed, thus leaving mainly the medium-chain triglycerides and making it an absolutely saturated oil. This saturation gives it a very, very long shelf life and greatly increased stability.
In addition, fractionating raises the comparative concentration of Capric acid and Caprylic acid, thus giving it more of antioxidant and disinfecting effect. The fractionated coconut carrier and massage oil by GoPure creates a silky barrier on your skin, but will not clog your pores. Coconut oil has a light-weight feel and a non-greasy finish that I really liked and I thought would work perfectly for the hand scrub.
The Fractionated Coconut Oil offered by GoPure is considered an all-natural type of carrier oil that is able to easily absorb into your skin, which makes it perfect for massage oils as well. It is completely soluble with all types of essential oils and is odorless and colorless, which means it will not stain any fabric it comes in contact with. It also has a prolonged shelf life, which means it will not go rancid. The shelf life of GOPURE Natural's coconut oil, with proper storage conditions, is indefinite. Keep the oil stored in a cool location, out of the direct sunlight.
