It's a simple, natural way to get soft, glowing skin.
You can find lavender essential oil at most health food stores and even supermarkets, but the very best comes from lavender farms. Check your phone book to see if there are any in your area, or head over to a farmers market, as you will often find not just the oils but the flowers as well.
If you don't have a local supply, then buying elsewhere is fine, just be sure the oil is of good quality. How to tell? If the label says 'perfume oil' or 'fragrance oil', it's not a pure essential oil. Look for dark colored glass bottles, as clear bottles allow light in that damages the oils properties. Plastic bottles are a no-go also, as a true essential oil will often dissolve the plastic, which then ends up in the oil itself. Also, don't buy an oil with a rubber dropper for the same reason.
Now, let's make our lotion!
You will need:
Lavender essential oil
Place a glass bowl over boiling water.
Put in 2 tablespoons each of virgin olive oil, almond oil and lanolin (you can find lanolin in the health food store) and the squeezed-out contents of 5-6 vitamin E capsules.
Take the bowl off the heat, and beat using electric beaters until it starts to get nice and thick. Add a few drops of essential lavender oil, and beat a bit more just to mix it.
Put the cream in a glass jar, and store it in the fridge. If you don't want it to get too cold, put it in the door.
