Shea butter truly is one of my favorite skin and hair care products that I use regularly, especially during the winter months. It is one of the more popular natural skin care products available; women from countries such as Africa, Shea butter's originating country, have used it as a moisturizer and emollient for many hundreds of years.
Where Does It Come From?
Shea butter is from a tree found in West Africa; its grows across the continent from Uganda in the east to Senegal in the west. The fruit of the tree is crushed and boiled to extract the vegetable oils and fats. This in turn is used in a number of Shea butter products and for cooking purposes as well.
It's important to buy the best quality Shea butter that you can in order to get the best benefits. Alo Ivory Shea butter is graded according to quality. Class A is the very best, and is used for the manufacture of the very best Shea butter lotions and other natural skin care products used for healing. A good quality Shea butter, such as my favorite by Alo, all natural, pure, often organic, and has incredible moisturizing and protective qualities. Alo provides a 100% raw, unrefined Ivory Shea butter.
Often Shea butter products found on store shelves have been adulterated with synthetic perfumes and inexpensive cosmetic "fillers." These are not good for the skin! Alo Ivory Shea Buttter is 100% unrefined Shea butter, has a creamy texture, is non greasy, has a pleasant pure scent and comes in a jar, unlike other Shea butters that come in a bag or box.
Why is Shea Butter so Good for You?
It is loaded with vitamin E, which is an all natural antioxidant that clears the skin of free radicals. Vitamin A protects the skin from collagen damage by increasing collagen production, while vitamin F, an essential fatty acid, gives the skin that smooth, soft feel we all want. Finally, the vitamin K in Shea butter improves the elasticity of the skin, and will also aid in the healing of wounds.
The benefits of Alo Ivory Shea Butter are endless. Shea butter will help ease acne and eczema, as well as allergic reactions. It retains moisture on the skin and hair at a high level and will soothe sunburns, peeling and wounds. As an added benefit is that Shea butter does contain some SPF protection.
There are also multiple uses for Shea Butter. It can be used on skin and hair both for moisturizing, but it also works very well as a lip balm, shaving cream, wound cream and more. One of the things I used it for was to reduce the look of my post pregnancy stretch marks, and it worked very well for me.
Alo Ivory Shea butter is also great for mixing into recipes to benefit many skin problems. Alo offers a free recipe guide when you order their Ivory Shea Butter that includes a recipe for treating acne as well as many other skin issues. You can check it out HERE.
