DIY: 5 Easy Steps to Make Rose Water

Perhaps the best facial toner ingredient that's suitable for all types of skin is rosewater.

Rosewater has natural cleansing properties and carries with it a pleasant aroma. People have been using rosewater to treat different kinds of skin problems, and because of its many skin benefits, it is often found as an ingredient in some skincare products sold in the market today. It has antiseptic and antibacterial properties. And most of all, it doesn't produce any kind of irritation in the skin.

Things you will need:

One cup of clean rose petals

Distilled water

Glass jar with cover

Glass bowl

Sauce pan with lid

Strainer

Step 1

Gather all ingredients you will need in order to create rose water. Rose petals should be free from any form of chemicals. You can check out roses online so you can have them delivered right to your doorstep or try a flower shop near you. If you are not confident that they are chemical free, you can wash them with cool water. You will need enough petals to fill 1 bowl or 1 cup.

Step 2

Boil 2 cups of Distilled water in sauce pan. Add in the bowl of rose petals, scatter them and make sure that they are evenly distributed.

Step 3

Cover your pan with a lid, the heat should be set to "low". Do not bring it to a boil, for too much of it will destroy the color and lose its essential properties. Once you see that the petals turn pale and the liquid turns pink, you can already remove it from heat.

Step 4

Separate the petals from the liquid using the strainer and pour the rose water into the glass jar you've prepared. Cover you glass jar to avoid any harmful substances from getting mixed in it.

Voila! You have finished creating your very own rose water. You can store it in your refrigerator to maintain its freshness. Even with the help of the cold storage, its expiry date is only until a week. Make sure to use it within that time span.
