Pure Essential Oils: DIY Lip Balm Recipes with Essential Oils

I love using essential oils, and honestly, I use them for nearly everything.  I make cleaning products, skincare products, and medicinal blends for colds, etc.  I insist on them being pure and well made.  Check out the recipes that you can make yourself below!!

Lemon essential oil is extracted from lemon rinds, ensuring a great fresh scent.  The oil is cold pressed, which ensures purity and strength.  I like to add lemon essential oils to my balm because it contains a Vitamin C antioxidant boost.  The peppermint essential oil
is steam distilled from both dried and fresh Menthat Peperita leaves.  Peppermint is cooling and refreshing for the body and is wonderful for mood lifting aromatherapy sessions.  The oil also lends itself well to homemade lip balms.

I love the way the lip balms turned out.  And I was very pleased with the purity and scent of Insta Natural's line of essential oils.

Lemon or Peppermint Lip Balm

1 part Shea Butter
1 part Avocado Oil (or Coconut Oil)
Lemon or Peppermint Essential Oil (add as much as you like for strength but, usually not more than 10 drops per container is enough)

Fill a small saucepan with water over medium heat.
In a wide-mouth half pint mason jar, add beeswax, shea butter and avocado oil.
Place jar in water and let beeswax pellets slowly melt.
This will take about 20 minutes.
Stir a few times during the melting process.
Remove from heat and let cool about 10 minutes or until it starts to just solidify.
Stir in essential oil and then spoon into lip balm container and let completely harden.
