MY Konjac Sponge Bamboo Charcoal Facial Sponge Review

I was lucky enough to recently try out Konjac's original fiber sponges and I loved it.  So when I got the chance to try another one of their natural sponges out, I could not resist.

Not only did both of the sponges clean and exfoliate my face very well, but now this new one comes with the added benefit of charcoal, which works wonders on my acne issues.

MY Konjac Sponge brand sponges are made exclusively with the konjac fiber, a pure vegetable fiber taken from the root of the Amorphophallus Konjac plant. This fiber, when moistened with warm water and your favorite cleanser, will exfoliate dead cells and clean dirt and makeup away in a jiffy.

The Konjac plant, also known as konnyaku potato or elephant yam, is a plant that is native to eastern Asia. The
Konjac root is rich in minerals, vitamins, and it has been traditionally used as a beauty treatment for a long time in eastern Asia. It seems a lot like a loofah for the face!

MY Konjac Sponge is made to the very highest of standards, using the purest volcanic rock filtered water and food grade konjac. All of their sponges, including this one,  are hypoallergenic & fragrance free.

All of their products are cruelty-free, and have earned the  Vegan Society logo as well as Leaping Bunny logo, the highest standard of cruelty-free status in the cosmetics industry. This is a major selling point for me when purchasing a product.

Before use, rinse and hydrate your Konjac Sponge in warm water. Squeeze out any excess water and gently cleanse skin. It is not necessary to use cleansing products, but a small amount can be added to your Konjac Sponge if desired. If a cleanser is added, the sponge will help the product work harder and go further.

After use, always rinse your sponge well and allow to dry in an airy place between uses. Be careful not to wring it out as this may damage the delicate plant fibres, just squeeze between your flattened hands. You can also pop your clean sponge in the fridge to keep it fresh and cool, which helps it last even longer. Alternatively, your sponge is happy to be aired on a radiator or heated towel rail. When dried, it will shrink and harden - this is perfectly natural. Simply allow it to absorb water and rehydrate before using again. Never use the sponge when dry. The better care of the sponge, the longer it will last

Overall, I’m sold on konjac sponges. The  Konjac Sponge made me a convert.
– Removes dry skin flakes
– Does not damage skin’s protective barrier
– Thoroughly cleansing
– Easy to use
– A few inflated claims, such as supplying antioxidants and minerals
Performance: 4/5 – These sponges work really well to exfoliate and clean without damaging skin. They would have received a 5 if there weren’t other hard-to-prove claims made.
Packaging: 4/5 – It comes sealed in plastic and packed in a box. The string for hanging it to dry is handy. I’d say I wished it came with a storage container, but it really needs to be air-dried after each use, so there’s really no point. I just like things to have a container, especially when those things go on my face.
Ingredients: 4/5 – It’s just konjac fiber, plus whatever dash of plant extracts or charcoal is needed to make each variety.
Remember, Konjac Sponges are free of irritating chemicals, cruelty-free, and are 100% biodegradable.
